My educational background My name is Dr. Charles Kwang. I have always been extremely interested in understanding Why things happen. I have always been very curious and found myself studying much further into subjects than what common education expected of students. I graduated from University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Mammal Physiology and Neuroscience. After college, I was accepted into a post graduate doctorate (Ph.D.) program at University of Southern California (USC). For two years I conducted research on genes that lead to cancer, specifically on how cancer genes turn on and off. I later obtained my degree in Chiropractic Medicine (D.C.) from Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS) where I began conducting research on Chinese herbs and alternative medicine. In chiropractic school, I also studied how the misalignment of the vertebrae causes pain or chronic pain. I also completed the Ulan Nutritional System Program, which trained me and provided me with tools to find patients' problems quickly. How it all began? My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer when I was in high school. Her left breast and the surrounding area was removed, including muscles and lymph nodes. She went through the pain of surgery, the mental fog and sickness from chemotherapy, and radiation. I witnessed her suffering for two years. She dragged herself through the treatments and survived. She was told she was cancer free, but was far from recovered. How long will she continue to suffer from this? Will she regain her strength, mental fog, and sleep? The doctors could not tell her. Then, sixteen years after my mother's surgery she experienced lymphedema. Lymphatic obstruction often leads to lymphedema, which means swelling due to a blockage of the lymph passages. Lymph is a yellowish watery fluid that is found throughout the body. It circulates through the body tissues picking up fats, bacteria, and other unwanted materials through the lymphatic system. However, because the swelling did not occur right after surgery I think there is something more to it that lymphatic blockages. I dug into all the materials I could get my hands on before and after work and didn't stop. This is where it all began. I began to use different herbs and found herbs that relieved her pain very quickly! This was very encouraging. Around the same time my mother had been affected with lymphedema, I had already graduated with a Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine (D.C.) and I noticed that much of the pain patients were experiencing was not being handled completely as I had hoped. By intensifying my research into other possible causes, I developed my theory in which toxins are likely the primary source of the problem. In general, when I refer to toxins I mean parasites, bacteria, fungi, heavy metals, or chemicals. Based on my research, I believe that when toxins invade a body, the toxins interfere with normal bodily functions and compete with the body for nutrients. My theory suggests that toxins act as the "triggers" that lead to cellular death, and because of their impact on the body toxins have to be flushed out. My Herbal Tea Program As a result of my interpretation of my research I developed an herbal tea program based on traditional herbs that helps the body heal and recover. The program I developed is based on traditional **Chinese herbs that help the body get rid of the unsavory "guests" along with chronic pain, disease and discomfort that plague today's human body by supporting the immune system. The immune system is made up white blood cells, proteins, tissues, and organs. It protects the body from microorganisms such as bacteria, parasites, viruses, or fungi. For the immune system to work properly, the body must first recognize that foreign microorganisms have invaded it, and then the body needs to activate the immune response. The immune response is how the body recognizes and defends itself against foreign microorganisms. As a result of my research, I found that that when the immune system is improved the body begins to heal itself. The research regarding Chinese herbal medicine is promising, but inconclusive according to the FDA. These herbs have been successfully used for nearly 4,000 years in the Far East, and when prepared in decoctions (brewed in water) the herbs help bring the body up to the ability to heal itself. It is time for the Western world to experience the benefits of this form of healing. * The claims and statements found in the Charles Kwang, D.C.
